Modalities

We work primarily from a psychodynamic model - meaning that we believe dynamics outside of our awareness impact our actions, emotions, and relationships. Gaining insight into these dynamics, from a place of compassion & curiosity, can be enormously clarifying and healing.

  • The IFS model believes that each person has access to a grounded self and that we make the best decisions when this self is leading the way. The model extends curiosity, compassion, appreciation, and healing to the parts of us we have needed to develop to protect ourselves.

  • Our practice is rooted in attachment theory - working to develop a secure and safe attachment with clients, allowing clients to heal in the context of the therapeutic relationship from past relational misattunments and traumas.

  • Our work centers marginalized voices, even the marginalized parts within our own selves. We recognize that generational trauma and oppressive forces in society impact the mental health of the community and the individual.
