my approach

I believe that humans are wired toward growth and that growth happens in the context of safe relationships, including our relationships within with different parts of our own self. My practice is grounded in attachment theory - I seek to develop secure attachments with my clients, our co-created relationship then serving as a healing environment from past relational trauma and misalignments.

My practice is also grounded in the trauma-informed theoretical orientation of Internal Family Systems - I believe each of my clients has access to a sturdy & grounded Self from which they can lead with curiosity & compassion, clarity & confidence. Together, without judgment and with a generous spirit, we will explore the multifaceted parts of you - wounds & protective parts alike. Our work will support you as you come back to a sense of groundedness and home in your own self.

At the systemic level, I am deeply aware of how intergenerational and systemic trauma, oppression, stigmatization, white supremacy, and the patriarchy have negatively impacted the communities and mental health of those I serve. I am committed to affirmative practice - our work in the therapy room will re-center narratives through an inclusive, feminist, antiracist, anti-oppressive lens.

WHAT TO EXPECT

I value:

Showing up as a real human with real life experience in my professional life, authenticity in my work. Intentionality, nuance, hospitality, the most generous interpretation, connection to nature, connection to our community, connection to self, the power of conversation. The freedom to be quirky, weird, playful.

I’m not about:

Being bored, pretension, coffee nor wine, rigidity. Prescribed approaches.

in my free time, you can find me:

Running errands with a friend, cuddling my kids or pup on the couch, swimming in Lake Michigan, deep diving the internet to learn about some obscure topic, crafting, and/or fussing with my plants.

daily rituals:

Black cinnamon tea, an outdoor walk no matter what the weather, and some intentional gratitude.

Cozy living room corner featuring a tan leather armchair, a small round wicker side table with plants, snacks, and writing utensils, a large window with a view of a river and greenery, exposed brick walls, a colorful patterned rug, and a large potted plant.
